Time to Choose an Independent Electricity Supplier!

If you consume over 1,000 kWh of electricity per year, pay more than €21/month, and are not a vulnerable consumer (e.g., receiving social support, disability pension), you must choose an independent electricity supplier by December 30, 2025.

Who needs to choose a supplier by December 30, 2025?

  • Consumers currently on the regulated (public) supply
  • Those who use more than 1,000 kWh/year (your bill is likely over €21/month*)
  • Consumers not classified as vulnerable
  • Consumers whose property was connected to the grid after July 1, 2022

Otherwise, starting January 1, 2026, you will be transferred to temporary guaranteed supply, which:

  • May be more expensive
  • Will last no longer than 6 months
*estimated using ESO’s "Standard" plan with a single time zone
